Ash lost at the Pokémon League, again. I suppose it shouldn't come as a surprise!

I've got to feel a bit sorry for him though. It was the equivalent of a hard fought series of battles against other good players, only to come up against a haxed Uber using n00b right at the finish line. :P

I really do feel bad for him, even though I don't like him, but only because I hate Darkrai more! The enemy of my enemy is my friend and all that...

Oh well. Now we get to follow him for another four years so we can watch him fail at the fifth generation Pokémon League as well! XP You suck, Ketchum!


Slow progress on the Manga at the moment... Still, it's a bank holiday weekend so there'll be lots of time to get pages done. Also, the smile is in the next chapter, not this one! My mistake... The chapters just kind of bleed together I guess.

It is interesting to note that Maggie has a different hair colour in every cover she appears on.

From shocking pink, to deep crimson, to brown, to that lovely light golden brown.

I've done next to no translating since finishing Chapter 3, I had hoped to get Chapter 4 finished this weekend but I've been distracted by Dragon Quest 9!!!1

But I've just this second completed DQ9, so this week I'll get Chapter 4 done and dusted.

I did get a few pages done though, including these two:

You have no idea how long I've been looking forward to translating the bottom right panel. :P

It's a bit weird that the style changes so much from beginning to end. I have to say, I'm already missing the original Michael's style, even though the middle one is my favourite. I prefer the early/mid Michael to the later drawing style, however, Maggie is much more beautiful in the later books...

Ahh... I want the blue costume back... ._.

This page is a prime example of how the dialogue in Daemon Hunters can sometimes be a little too dramatic. I've done my best to make the dialogue in the previous chapters and book seem as down to earth as I could make it, but there was little leeway for me on the last two pages.

I'm of the mind that cheesy monologues and flowery poetry are best left for descriptive writing, and not dialogue... It makes characters seem less real. Though there are occasions when it's okay, like when you have a villain with a god complex, or characters with gigantic egos like Ruka, who thrive on expositing themselves.

That's pretty much how I feel about it.

Very very underwhelming, but my expectations were probably entirely too high anyway.

As much as I love Dark Side of the Light... They should have given the song to someone who can actually sing it.

Team Plasma... A new evil team for Black/White... They look kind of like dressed down knights/templars. Combined with the glimpse we get of a crown in the opening sequence I guess the themes mesh together somewhat.

But they still look super dorky considering the fashion sense of the rest of the world.

Also, some rather unfortunate news... We have to play some inane mini game called "Pokéshifter" to transfer our old monsters from Gen4 to Gen5. Guh... As if PalPark wasn't inconvenient enough! I don't want to play this game however many hundreds of times it's going to take to transfer everyone over... I guess I'll just have to do it a little at a time, or whenever needed.

Anyhoo... Been quite busy the last few days, but I will get back to translating this weekend, and get Chapter 2 finished.

Admittedly, I only got into this series because of that one couple picture, and while I absolutely adore the sweet moments between Michael and Maggie, there a few things about the series I plain just don't like.

Sometimes I feel that Michael is just a little too cold to Maggie throughout the course of the story. But that's a minor complaint, and I know that he's cold to her and to others because he doesn't want them to follow him around and get themselves into danger. (Though he doesn't seem to do a very good job of it.)

That aside, the biggest actual problem I have with the story, is the scary faces. The range of faces Michael displays over the course of the three series, range from the mildly scary to the downright FREAKISHLY SCARY! Such as the one of him as a 15 year old, with an absolutely twisted blank eyed face, crying TEARS OF BLOOD! O_O ARGH! (It's all Gabriel's fault!)

Secondly it's the damn gore of the third series... "Hymn for the Dead", particularly the scene where Raphael decides it'd be a brilliant idea to squish someone's head so hard HIS FINGERS RIP THROUGH THEIR SKULL SQUISHING OUT THEIR EYEBALLS AND CRUSHING OUT PIECES OF THEIR BRAIN!! O____O;; HAAALP! Even though the guy he did it to totally deserved it... Still... Jesus Christ, I don't like looking at it.

But you know what... I'm willing to put up with all of that just for the sweet moments... That just speaks volumes about how utterly mad I am I suppose.

Ruka is just great though... Everything he does makes me smile.

I finished Chapter 1 finally... It took a lot longer than I had hoped.

I really struggled with this one, there were quite a few particularly annoying bubbles that I just could not figure out. ._. I did my best to make everything fit together though... But I'm not confident in the quality of my work this time...

The first book went so well too!

There were no Tokusen 4 related extras on the Ga-Rei Zero Blu-Ray set X(!!!!!!!!!!

The TV spots don't count because they're not new material.

In fact there wasn't really much of anything new...

GUH! I hope the live version of Dark Side of the Light is good... As soon as I get hold of an ISO of the LIVE DVD I will find out...

Double Dragon Age

A whole year to wait until Dragon Age 2 comes out. Things are looking very good so far, I'm particularly liking the revamped ME2 style dialogue system, with the added bonus of giving us a note of the character's intended emotion when speaking. I lose count of the number of times I've chosen a dialogue option I thought would be a good choice only to have it be a bad one.

The earliest example I can think of would be in FF7, when you talk to Tifa before you set off to bomb the reactor she asks you if you slept well. I used to choose "Next to you, who wouldn't?" thinking that it was the response that indicated she provided me (Cloud) with a warm and relaxing feeling that helped me sleep better... Only to later to discover it was actually an option that reduced her affection value and implied that I (Cloud) did not find her attractive. >_> Whatever.

My only concern though, and it is a TINY TINY little concern, is that I may not be able to customize the WHOLE name of the new protagonist. I hope they go the Dragon Age route of nobody ever mentioning the protagonists name aloud instead of the ME2 route where everyone calls you by a set name.

Anyhoo... Now back to translating Daemon Hunters!

I'm going to get this chapter finished on the weekend. And hopefully get started on (if not, complete) Chapter 2 as well. Then Maggie will be back... <3

Although... The scary faces start in Chapter 3 as well. So it's kind of a double edged sword...

One side is pretty and bouncy, the other side is scary and random...

So, I was heading out of the store after getting my breakfast and I saw a Muslim woman, wearing one of those full body black burka things, sitting in a silver family car.

Unfortunately, my brain didn't come to this conclusion immediately, and the first thing that came to my mind was: "Holy crap, there's a NINJA driving that car! That's so cool! There's a frigging NINJA driving that car!" ..... ..... ..... "Oh wait..."

This was really difficult to find but I got it finally, and for a fraction of the secondary market price too. You should see the crazy prices it goes for on Amazon. In fact go and take a look for yourself: No bargains here.

Completed the cover for Volume 1. The covers will be the only time I include any colour illustrations.

I WON'T include any of the special colour illustrations if I decide to release the scanlation generally. Anybody that wants to see them will have to buy the books for themselves.

Still... I'm sad... In this book, Michael switches from the blue/white costume to the black costume... I really love the blue/white costume...! He also starts making the super scary faces... Not looking forward to those at all. @_@;;
